ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, Monday, Nov. 5th, 2007
in the CLAYTON HOTEL, Ballybrit, Galway.

The 2007 Annual General Meeting was held in the Clayton Hotel, Ballybrit, on Monday 5th November. Attendance was, again, disapointingly small. It is difficult to know whether small AGM attendance is an indication of satisfaction or disinterest. In any event, less than 20% of those entitled to determine how the Club should be run, actually chose to exercise that right.

Bill Fennell, Chairman, welcomed everybody. The review of 2006/07 was generally quite positive.

There were 9 Club organised events during the year. Club finances remain quite healthy. The Charity Fund again raised money to make substantial donations to half a dozen charities. On the organisational front, the Club website was refreshed, and the Direct Debit project for electronic collection of Club Subscriptions was brought to a successful conclusion. Members are encouraged to sign up for automated payment of subscriptions, so that the Club can truly benefit from this development. In view of the Club's strong financial position, it was again decided to hold subscriptions at the level set in 2001. The annual subscription remains €38 until the end of 2009, with a discount of €6 for those who opt to pay by Direct Debit.

The town of Clifden gave a great welcome to WestRun 2007 at the end of July. However, the quality of service at our base in Clarinbridge was somewhat dissapointing. A change of scene is necessary. WestRun 2008 will be based in Oughterard.

The following Directors and Committee were elected for 2007/08:

Ernst Wijnekus was re-elected Honorary President.

In ‘Any Other Business', the incoming committee was asked to investigate the possibility of organising training sessions in car maintenance for Club members.

In conclusion, Ernst Wijnekus, Honorary President, wished the Club another successful year, good weather and good runs.
